Vacation in Hawaii
Hawaii is perhaps one of the most ideal vacation spots in the world. Located in the heart of the Pacific Ocean, it boasts of the highest and most challenging waves for surfing and is at the same time a tropical paradise.
There are many things that can be done when having a vacation in Hawaii. Of course, the beaches are the first destination that tourists can go to. Swimming and surfing, however, are not the only attractions you can enjoy in Hawaii. There are a lot more that the island can offer.
One thing you cannot miss in Hawaii is to visit the Kilauea Volcano. One of the most active volcanoes in the world, it is located on the south-eastern tip of Big Island. Tourists who love nature and its sceneries can hike through the mountainside’s rainforests.
Since 1983, the volcano of Kilauea has been continuously emitting lava. Vacationers can visit brand new lands created by solidified lava while at the same time experience a close-up encounter with steam-spewing vents, walk-through lava tubes, and vistas.
If, by chance, you are to visit the island of Kauai, it is a must to take a helicopter ride. You will see the whole island from a different perspective, giving you a fresh insight on a lot of the sceneries. This is also an educational trip for those who wish to know more about the island. The pilot will point out the names and history of the places you will encounter.
Winter is probably the season when tourists would want to have a vacation in Hawaii for a warmer climate. But not only humans want a warmer temperature but also humpback whales that use Hawaiian waters as mating, birthing, and nursing areas. Tourists can take a cruise on these waters to see these whales breach and frolic above the waters.
Another fun adventure that tourists can do in Hawaii is snorkelling at Molokini. This marine reserve has the clearest waters in the island. Under its waters, one can behold a majestic underwater view showcasing the very colorful aquatic world underneath. Maui has plenty of boats that tourists can rent to get to Molokoni. Some of these boats even have glass bottoms so that tourists can stay dry while observing underwater life.
Biking is another must-do in Hawaii. Haleakala, one of the tallest mountains in the islands and also in the world, is an ideal spot for bikers to ride up and down its 3,000 feet height. Tourists can also go there on foot to see the crater and witness a hollow descent of about 3,000 feet that is seven miles long and two miles wide.
Finally, experience dancing the Polynesian Luau with the natives of Hawaii. This exotic dance, coupled with the ambiance of the music and the aroma of the food served, is the best way to get to know more the culture of Hawaii.
Packing for a Las Vegas Vacation

Las Vegas
Las Vegas is a very unique place to spend a vacation. Not only is it located in the middle of the desert, it also provides activities and eye-candy that give tourists a run for their money. People who plan on taking a vacation in Las Vegas should remember these simple guidelines.
In thinking of what to wear when going to the city, remember that Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert. Daylight in Vegas is excruciatingly hot during the summer season. Wear what you think is comfortable to you, like cotton shirts, shorts, and sneakers. Wearing a hat or shades is also a nice idea. Still, always remember to apply lotion or cream with sunblock to protect your skin against UV rays. Bring water to cool you down as well.
If you’re planning to visit during winter, however, bring a coat or jacket. The wind blows very hard during this season and the weather is colder than you can imagine. It is then advisable to bring warm clothing.
Casinos are not really that strict with dress codes. There are, however, some restaurants, clubs or sudden events that will require you to wear decent attire. Make sure to at least bring a fancy dress or suit with you.
Remember to bring only the necessary things. Most of the time, you won’t be staying in your room so you don’t really have to bring something to make your hotel room your home.
If you are bringing a camera, just bring what is necessary, lightweight, and small in sizes. If it requires film rolls, you can bring as much as possible or bring an extra memory card otherwise. It is advisable to bring a monopod. Tripods are hard to set-up and it takes up so much time. Also remember to bring an extra set of batteries in case of emergencies. Your lens cleaning kit is also a must-have in case you chance upon a sand storm.
In case of money matters, always bring with you credit or ATM cards, or at least keep a list of your bank account numbers with you. This is pretty helpful when you plan to gamble in the casinos. Be wary of pickpockets so always watch out for your personal belongings. Always keep in mind, though, that since you’re in Las Vegas, there is a big possibility that you will spend most of the cash that you brought with you.
Getting Around Las Vegas

Las Vegas Vacation
Tourists and vacation hoppers won’t be having a hard time strolling around Las Vegas. Walking is probably the most ideal thing to do if they want to go around and sight-see. This is because most of Las Vegas’ hotel-casinos are easily found near each other. Some two hotels are even linked by a bridge or an underground passage and in some instances, a rail shuttle.
However, vacationers need to take in mind the season’s weather. Daylight in Las Vegas is very hot especially in the summer so they might want to try other options and avoid strolling around the city.
Part of many hotels’ packages includes a taxi service or a car rental. Riding a cab is probably one of the easiest means to get around the city. First of all, it is cheaper to go from one hotel to the other. Another is that the driver is required to take the shortest destination route with the meter on.
Taxi queues can be found in front of hotel entrances. Do not hail a cab on the street because it is illegal for cab drivers to pick up or drop off passengers in traffic. Here’s a trick to easily hail a cab in Vegas. If your destination is at the north of the Strip, look for a turn-off at the east side and stand 20 feet before the turn. This allows the cab to pick you up by turning off the road.
Tipping is also a customary act in riding taxis in Las Vegas. Taxi dispatchers should be given a dollar or more. At least 15% of the taxi meter should be tipped to the cab driver. If you have big or heavy luggage, allot a dollar for each of them.
Car rentals can also be easily provided by the hotel. In fact, it is cheaper to use a rented car than ride taxis because taxi fares are quick to add up. If you only plan to hang around a single casino, then take taxis instead. But if you are in Las Vegas on a vacation, remember that the best sites are found outside the city and they require driving. You just have to remember to rent days before your planned trip because you might chance upon busy days.
Aside from taxis and car rentals, you can also use the public transit. The city has a monorail, the Las Vegas Monorail, which has stations behind several hotels. There is also the city bus line called Citizens Are Transit, which operates on 49 routes around the valley.
